Going Further with Green Printing: Responsibly Sourced Paper

printing and the environment

The environment is incredibly important to a lot of businesses throughout London and the UK, and Mode is no exception. We’re dedicated to keeping printing green and reducing our impact on the environment, which is why we offer green printing tips on our website and a toner recycling programme.

More than a million tonnes of paper are used every single day in Britain, with the average person using 4 trees’ worth of paper every year, according to the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council).

Responsibly-sourced paper is the next step in ensuring that your print management, processes, and materials are as eco-friendly as possible. The FSC certifies paper that is sustainably sourced to show that the pulp used is not a result of deforestation, to keep your business and the planet a little bit greener.

While the FSC’s logo is generally associated with wood products, its standards are applied to paper, as well as other products such as floors, decking, kitchen utensils, and printed matter.

The organisation is now putting together new marketing materials to ensure that people know more about where their paper and printed materials have come from, and whether their printed marketing has been put together using environmentally friendly products.

FSC Certified Paper

FSC certified paper is not simply recycled paper – it is generally made from virgin tree fibres rather than recycled materials. The logo shows that the pulp used to make your paper comes from well-managed forests, which is just as eco-friendly as buying recycled paper.

You can buy a huge range of paper goods with FSC certification, including copy paper, letterheads, and envelopes. It’s an excellent alternative to rougher, recycled paper if you want a smooth, uniform finish but want to reduce your impact on the environment.
